| THE VENUES | |||||||
|
The Burbank Cultural Arts Center is an exciting setting for the community of the world to come together and experience a mecca of art and litatiture. The architecture, the gardens, and the venue will speak volumes for itself. The BCAC is an entirely Green Complex. Each venue of the Burbank Cultural Arts Center has it’s own unique use and atmosphere. Whether it will house the Philharmonic or a staged reading, an outdoor movie or a wedding, every inch of the BCAC is designed to be utilized for performance, rental, interactive viewing, community cultural edification and retail profit. The strategy is for an all-inclusive communal synergy to benefit the whole. The multi purpose 1200 seat PerformArts Center, will contain a limitless array of settings to accommodate any and every performance, business, and instructional need. For example, the stage and audience can be hydraulically reconfigured to a proscenium arch for classic ballets and plays. The center also provides the ability to drop down a screen for film festivals, business meetings and classroom/lecture settings. It can be reoriented into an arena setting for large lectures and industrials. Modern performances, music, dance and film series will be facilitated by the use of the Center’s thrust stage configuration. Theatre in the round at the PerformArts Center is for cultural performances from around the world, including but not limited to: Noe Theatre, Hawaiian Theatre, Eastern Indian or Near East Theatre etc. This wonderful venue can also serve the community by hosting graduations and awards shows/presentations. The Media Center Ballet, The Burbank Philharmonic, and Shakespeare At Play are just a few of the host companies in residence. The lobby of the PerformArts Center will be a stunning Art Gallery and gift shop. Within this Gallery, bi-monthly touring shows will be displayed, plus local artists will have their viewings and small shows from the art classes at the BCAC will be presented there along with displays from the Burbank Public School District students. This will also create a venue for art and film festivals and intimate parties such as Opening Night gatherings and volunteer solicitations. The Children’s Theatre and Di Vinci Theatre will house locations that will transform into performance venues for children to view works of art and engage in performances. It will be a place for multiple purposes form puppets to science projects. Classes will be provided in the processes of melding both sides of the brain, combining art and science in an exciting new way that can be translated into the classrooms with professional development for teachers in and around the surrounding areas. It will be a place where the ‘Historic’ will dissolve into the ‘Modern.’ This space can also be used as rentals and for festivals, i.e., Bach, Copland, or Mozart. Film festivals and Art Festival will be given throughout the year at specific dates that will become an annual event for Burbank and surrounding communities. The Black Box/Light Box is a very unique venue that is a room completely surrounded by black walls, black floor, and ceiling. It is at this point that a creative person will make it the theatre or theme that they envision. Light fixtures will hang from black rods so as not to bring anything into the eyes view but what the designer wants you to see. This is a purely modern space for: experimental theatre, med. sized music and dance performances, staged readings, art viewings, films, classrooms and rehearsal space, not to mention parties, weddings, meetings and renting out for filming and auditions. The structure itself has one full wall that is removable via state of the art technique, into the gardens for the reception after the meeting or wedding. For daytime rentals, the blacks (curtains) will be removed at the push of a button reveling large windows like the New York rehearsal lofts. LORT and regional theatre companies will come from across the country to rent this space for their yearly auditions. As of now, there is no one place that can house them all. With the PerformArts Center, there will be. The Outdoor Amphitheatre is a beautiful open air space on the 3rd floor of the center for parties, weddings, graduations, and performances that can go into the evening to the sounds of music, dance, or summer theatre festivals. And if the audience turns around, the view will be the side of the PerformArts building housing the large screen for outdoor movies and film festivals. The Gardens will be on the caliber of a small Huntington Library and Gardens. A botanist not gardeners will keep the grounds. They will all be themed so as to rent them out for different activities such as weddings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, anniversaries, themed parties and exclusive performances, teas and meetings. This will be one of the largest revenue sources. The Center will have 40,000 sq. ft. of Storage. In revenue, this works out to more dollars per sq ft. than any of our other venues. The trend for restaurants now is ‘Celebrity Names’ such as Di Vito and Dave Koz putting their names on the venue. The BCAC will house a Jazz Club and a walkway throughout the Center with the name of Dave Koz, the famous Jazz Saxophone player. The Koz Way’s food will be of an eclectic style with entertainment 7 days a week, before and after shows. Currently, we are in negotiations with Danny Di Vito to put his name on the Italian Restaurant as he just did in South Beach, Fl. The style will be like that of Michele’s and Mozart’s in Los Angeles. These restaurants’ themes are interactively and musically oriented with singing waiters where customers are encouraged to participate. The Dotrice Lounge an old world style cigar lounge with a walk in humidor, will be where the clients have their own lockers and fine wines and cognacs are served in leather lounging chairs with newspapers from around the world at the client’s disposal. There will also
be a café for breakfast and lunch dining with outdoor seating and a
small performance space. This outsourced kitchen will also provide
box dinners for the other outdoor performance spaces. There will be
a large dinning hall for community and business events. This will
also be outsourced. |
